The boys traveled to Long Island to participate in the 2018 Doc Adams 19th Century Base Ball Festival. Keeping with the theme of the season, the club played through several torrential downpours on messy fields. With the help of our friends, the New York Mutuals, the club came away from the weekend with a 2-2 split. The first game was a rout of the Monmouth Furnace of New Jersey during a consistent downpour. The team held their opponent scoreless in that affair with a final score of 20-0. The second game Saturday was impacted greatly by the elements; consistent rain, a water-logged ball, and muddy field. It was a high-scoring affair that unfortunately fell in favor of the Boston Beaneaters, 24-18. The first game on a very hot, humid Sunday featured some timely offense, but ultimately the boys fell to the Dirigo club of Maine 15-5. The second game was a hard-fought win against the Bouckville Summits from Upstate New York, 15-11. Comments are closed.
